Asheville NC

We arrived yesterday in Asheville.  The drive from Knoxville was spectacular.  As any reservation, things are always a little unknown, but boy did we hit a low.  My description of this place was the Bates Motel of RV parks.  We were there for 30 minutes and decided we were going elsewhere.  We found an amazing spot in the Pisgah National Forest.  We purchased our $80 National Parks Pass and it's only $20 a night with electric and water.  Boy am I starting to sound like a hillbilly!  I attached a video from our site.  We are staying here at least another 5 nights.  The town of Asheville is really eclectic which we liked.

BYE BYE ILLINOIS

Yesterday we left Giant City State Park and moved to Lenoir City, TN.  We are staying at the Melton Hill Dam Campground and it is beautiful!  Yesterday we went to Oak Ridge and drove past the 2 places I lived many years ago as a child.  We will be moving on to Asheville, NC later today. 

Day 4 And We Still Like Each Other

The weather has been fair but we are having a blast.  We have a special discretionary  account called the "Crazy Chicken Fund".  If one of us wants to do an activity or purchase something that was not budgeted for, you can call "Crazy Chicken" and that activity is funded from there.  Also, uninterested individual will also participate.  I think we all know why this is needed...picture below.

 Have had multiple people ask me what the RV looked like so thought I would post some pictures.  Learning to blog is all new to me!  Took a long time to get these pictures up, and that blank space in the middle has given me a headache!

Back To Where It All Began

We left for Southern Illinois yesterday around 4:00 pm.  We are staying at the Giant City Campground.  We drove in complete darkness to the campsite and saw at least 100 deer in various spots!  Once we got settled around midnight you could hear the coyotes hunting in the woods and one actually howled very close to our site. Chris and I met at SIU 38 years ago so we thought starting out our journey from here would be fitting. 

Delay Update

We have a problem with our camshaft and the RV engine too!  Friday night pick-up at the earliest.  Looks like we have time for more local fun!  Trying to focus on things happen for a reason.  Oh well...we are happy, healthy and just spending more time with family  and friends...not such a bad problem to have.

Patience Is A Virture

Today we got our first lesson in patience.  Our RV engine was making a ticking sound when we went to get it dewinterized in preparation for tomorrows departure...not gonna happen.  The RV has to be checked out tomorrow and probably will need parts for the engine.  We are just chill'in at the Candlewood Suites waiting for the go ahead.  As my wise sister said "you've got nothing but time", which is very true.  

Countdown to blast off!

We are planning to hit the road on March 20, 2018!  Things are getting real, big changes coming!
