The Road To Moab

We left Bryce Canyon with no plan other than heading towards Moab.  Scenic Rt. 12 is beautiful.  We climbed up in to the mountains and then back to the desert.  There were times we were climbing such steep hills that I probably could have run up faster, which is really really slow.  We got to the Capital Reef area and decided we should start looking for some free camping.  We got out at our first attempt and were bitten up by flies, so that was a no.  We kept driving until we realized our tow car was dead and we didn't have much sunlight left.  Coincidentally we had just entered probably the ugliest area we had ever seen.  It was just black and gray mounds of dirt, kinda looked like the moon.  I took a picture from the RV.  I found a spot on a dry camping blog and off we went down a dirt road.  I drive the car ahead and Chris follows so that we don't get the RV stuck.  We also had no cell service so no way to communicate with each other.  We ended up finding a really nice spot.  Nobody in sight!  We really hate trying to find things in the dark but it worked out.  We had planned to get up and move on, but there was a dry creek bed and these beautiful slip rocks (I'm learning some things along the way) so we were able to hike a little prior to the last leg to Moab.

Night sky from out site!
