On our way to the City of Rocks State Park we stopped at the White Sands Memorial. It was crazy. We were just driving down the highway, make a right turn and within a couple of miles you are in the middle of gypsum dunes. Lilly went crazy and thought it was snow, being an Illinois girl, and got a whole mouthful of sand, twice actually. We rented a disc to slide down the dunes too. My BMI appeared to impact my speed! Very fun! We drove a few more hours to our campsite, which is absolutely in the middle of nowhere, but very nice. I've included a picture of our site. This morning we hiked the mountain in the picture. All three of us are exhausted. This afternoon we are supposed to get really high winds so we may be forced to take a nap.
This is the little shelter we ate lunch under.
This is where we hiked.
From up above! Took us 1.5 hours each way.
Gotta ask because no one has, what’s with the big red disc? Is it for shade? Can you use it like a snow saucer and slide down the dunes? A prop for the pictures? Is it a disc or did you steal a big red ball from the target parking lot? Did I miss something? Please help me I’m losing sleep.
ReplyDeleteIs it the Jolly Green Giants wife’s diaphragm? Please respond ASAP!
