Second Attempt Boondocking

After getting two new very expensive batteries installed we decided we would try boondocking again.  Our first attempt at Lake Powell was fun, but our batteries would not hold a charge which made using the generator a necessity.  The generator is loud and I hate making other people listen to it.  This time we stopped outside of Las Vegas at Lake Mead.  This is a National Park so dispersed camping is allowed.  I found the area on line.  One of the things I read was that there were lots of coyotes there.  Our first night we were sitting outside in the dark listening to the yipping and howling, which didn't sound very close, then all of a sudden some very loud howling started in the area right in front of us.  The two of us have never moved so quick in our lives.  We were sitting up above the lake all by ourselves.  It was great, but extremely hot in the afternoon.  We did go in to Las Vegas one afternoon just to walk around a bit and see the water show at the Bellagio.  I won't be going back to Vegas unless I am given a free trip.  Our new batteries did the trick.  We went over 24 hours with no generator power.  I did miss getting to see my Mom on Mother's Day but my brother was nice enough to FaceTime when he was visiting.  Missing my friends and family, still adjusting...but all good.

On Mother's Day Chris spread some of his Mom's ashes in Lake Mead.

This was on the ceiling at the Bellagio, all glass.  It was beautiful!

  2. What do you need a dictionary for? Boondocking? It is camping with no electric, water, bathrooms... totally self sufficient. Love and miss you too!
